VÖ: OCTOBER 31, 2013
In 1830, the violin virtuoso and notorious womanizer Niccolò Paganini (David Garrett), celebrated throughout Europe, is at the peak of his career. There are plenty of secrets surrounding his person and his manager Urbani (Jared Harris) does everything to keep the circulating scandal stories alive. After all, he has every interest in marketing his famous client in the best possible way. Only the London audience has yet to be won over. To get Paganini to come to London for his first performance, British impresario John Watson (Christian McKay) and his mistress Elisabeth Wells (Veronica Ferres) risk all their possessions. The enterprising Urbani finally succeeds in bringing Paganini to the English metropolis against his will. Thanks to the enthusiastic reporting of the journalist Ethel Langham (Joely Richardson), the project seems to be crowned with success. Tumultuous crowds gather in front of his hotel, so that the musician and his manager have to seek shelter with Watson. Here Paganini quickly takes a liking to Charlotte (Andrea Deck), the beautiful daughter of his host. She and Paganini find each other through music. He falls madly in love with the young singer. But this love displeases Urbani, who fears losing his influence over his protégé and begins to devise a diabolical plan.
