With his album "Rock Symphonies"(2010), violin virtuoso David Garrett once again ventures into new musical territory: classical music meets rock, according to the album's motto.
Recorded with the Orchestra of the City of Prague, the album is a kind of love letter to his favorite rock bands. From Nirvana to Guns N' Roses and Aerosmith to Metallica and Led Zeppelin. "I am firmly convinced that these songs can be made even bigger and more impressive with an orchestra behind them." says Garrett. The album also holds tracks you wouldn't necessarily have expected: his intelligent "mashup" version of the U2 song "Vertigo" with Vivaldi's "Four seasons" for example.
